The reason I am studying BA (hons) Applied Languages at Portsmouth University is because I aspire to be a translator or a linguist and I am very passionate about the work I do. I am fluent in two languages (English, Czech) and intermediate in another two (Spanish, German). At this time I am on a mission to find an internship or a volunteering position in the field of linguistics. May it be a research assistant or translation and interpreting assistant.
At the university I am currently working on a group research project on linguistic relativity called: Does Language shape the way we think? So far in my first year, I have learned to be more resilient, to manage my time better, to work in a group, to write academically and reference properly.
I translated articles and in-game information for a community game website (SMITE, Smajt.cz) for four years. I got A for my Bachelor Thesis which dealt with three chapter translation of a sci-fi novella. I double-majored in Mathematics and English, and I am currently continuing my studies in a Master's English programme. As a result of my education, I have a broad knowledge of English and Czech linguistics and IELTS GT Certificate (8.5 points / C2). I am also highly interested in Mythology and Science.
I am a nineteen-year-old student with experience in teaching English. I hold the IELTS Academic certificate with overall band 8.5 (CEFR level C2).
