My professional background is in Electrical Engineering / Cybernetics with a focus on medical devices. Besides these majors, I studied Business/Management. I have professional translation and localization experience in the software field (software localization, marketing, e-learning, manuals, instructions for use, legal documents), and in the past years, I have added medical translations into my portfolio (since 2014).

I am a freelance English to Czech translator of Czech nationality who has over 13 years of experience in translation, currently living in the UK. I am well-organized, flexible, hard-working individual, who pays attention to detail, and is always willing to learn new things and gain new experience. I have distinctive planning and organizing skills, always following agreements and deadlines. I work with a team of English native speakers.

The reason I am studying BA (hons) Applied Languages at Portsmouth University is because I aspire to be a translator or a linguist and I am very passionate about the work I do. I am fluent in two languages (English, Czech) and intermediate in another two (Spanish, German). At this time I am on a mission to find an internship or a volunteering position in the field of linguistics. May it be a research assistant or translation and interpreting assistant. At the university I am currently working on a group research project on linguistic relativity called: Does Language shape the way we think? So far in my first year, I have learned to be more resilient, to manage my time better, to work in a group, to write academically and reference properly.

I am a nineteen-year-old student with experience in teaching English. I hold the IELTS Academic certificate with overall band 8.5 (CEFR level C2). I'm starting my first year of English philology at university this September. Thanks to my opportunities I have been able to teach people of all ages and various levels of English proficiency. This has had a very positive impact on my teaching abilities. I have developed good communication, time management and organization skills.
