About me
The reason I am studying BA (hons) Applied Languages at Portsmouth University is because I aspire to be a translator or a linguist and I am very passionate about the work I do. I am fluent in two languages (English, Czech) and intermediate in another two (Spanish, German). At this time I am on a mission to find an internship or a volunteering position in the field of linguistics. May it be a research assistant or translation and interpreting assistant.
At the university I am currently working on a group research project on linguistic relativity called: Does Language shape the way we think? So far in my first year, I have learned to be more resilient, to manage my time better, to work in a group, to write academically and reference properly.
I am a nineteen-year-old student with experience in teaching English. I hold the IELTS Academic certificate with overall band 8.5 (CEFR level C2). I'm starting my first year of English philology at university this September. Thanks to my opportunities I have been able to teach people of all ages and various levels of English proficiency. This has had a very positive impact on my teaching abilities. I have developed good communication, time management and organization skills.
