I lived in Germany for 13 years, working as a translator and teacher of English. Six years ago I returned to live in the UK, and took the DipTrans examination of the Chartered Institute of Linguists (passed with a merit in general translation , a pass in social sciences and a distinction in Business). I have experience in translation in the following areas - marketing, business, finance, fashion, websites, religious/spiritual themes, medical/pharmaceutical, university papers and theses, social sciences, literature. I have a M.A. degree in Russian language, literature and linguistics from the University of Arizona, and my translations are read by undergraduate university students across the United States in the pages of _The Russia Reader_ (Duke University Press, 2010). I have also completed three years of German-language study at the University of Arizona. I worked extensively for over four years on the Russian 2014 Winter Olympics Project by translating a variety of documents, ranging from press releases and brochures to technical construction diagrams of the Olympic facilities. If you watched any of the English-language broadcasts of the Opening Ceremony on February 7, 2014, then you would have heard some of my translations of the speeches of officials as read by the TV commentators. I have also contributed translations of marketing materials that advance the business goals of major companies active in both Russia and Germany. For example, last fall I translated the annual report of a major Russia-based steel producer targeted at investors. I have also recently translated the clothing catalog of a German manufacturer of music merchandise. Let me help you tackle your next translation or proofreading project. I hold a B.A. (Languages) degree, two Project Management diplomas and a certificate in html/css and web design, as well as a TEFL diploma, amongst others. I have excellent time management skills, outstanding attention to detail and a highly professional work ethic. ​I have been editing and proofreading university theses, novel and literature manuscripts, newsletter and other publications on a freelance basis since 2002. Fluent in English, Afrikaans and German, with a strong proficiency in Dutch, I offer multiple professional linguistic services. I was employed as a Marketing and Communications Specialist in South Africa for Investec Bank, Commercial Union and Mutual & Federal. After moving to New Zealand, I became the online marketing and communications manager for Spicers Wealth Management in Auckland, followed by senior online communications manager for Tower Financial Advisory Services. I relocated permanently to Ireland in 2012, and am based in Dublin city.
